November 1 Cellphire has secured an agreement for funding of $1.5M from the U.S. Army to continue development of Thrombosomes® leading toward an IND submission to the FDA and an eventual Phase 1 Safety trial during 2012.

June 30, Cellphire announced today that former Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, James Peake, MD, has joined its board of directors. Dr. Peake is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General; he was selected as the U.S. Army Surgeon General. After retirement from the Army he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Project Hope and most recently as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs. A native of St. Louis and graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Peake attended medical school after serving in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division, where he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

May 8, Cellphire announced today that it has secured more than $1M in funding from the U.S. Army to continue development of Thrombosomes® leading toward an IND submission to the FDA. Cellphire will use the money to run additional safety studies and establish cGMP manufacturing capability as it heads toward clinical trials. To date, the pre-clinical study results support the safety and efficacy of Thrombosomes® as a possible therapeutic to stop bleeding.

January 14, Cellphire invited to the 2009 CHI Peptalk and presented "Lyophilization of a Challenging Biological-Blood Platelets" during the session on New Technologies for Freeze-Drying.

2008
December 30 Cellphire receives Official Certificate of Registration for the Trademark on Thrombosomes® from the USPTO.

May 12 Cellphire moves into newly renovated biotechnology space in Suite 204 at 9430 Key West Avenue in Rockville, Maryland. The new space includes two cleanrooms along with additional laboratory and office space to allow for GLP and eventual cGMP activities.

March 18 Cellphire enters license agreement with the Naval Research Laboratory for the U.S. Patent No. 5,736,313 "A Method of Lyophilizing Platelets by Incubation with High Carbohydrate Concentrations and Supercooling Prior to Freezing”
